Dinosaurs

种类繁多、身躯庞大的恐龙曾经是地球的“霸主”。关于它们灭绝的原因，至今仍众说纷纭。
Dinosaurs were the biggest land animals that ever lived on the earth. They lived millions of years ago, long before people began to live in the world.
There were many different kinds of dinosaurs. Some of them were plant eaters. The huge brontosaurus1 was one of these.
Other dinosaurs hunted meat to eat. The Tyrannosaurus rex2 was the king of the hunters; that is why it was called “rex”. The word rex means “king”. The Tyrannosaurus rex had long sharp teeth.
There are many thins we don’t know about the dinosaurs. The biggest question that has not been made clear is, why did they die out?
Some say the world became too hot and burned their food. Some say the world became too cold, and they froze to death. Now many scientists agree that a big meteor3 came out of the sky and hit the earth. It killed most of the plants and animals including dinosaurs.
