为了重现当年英国普遍使用的传统教学方法的辉煌成果,英国教育部部长鼓励学校返璞归真,回归目前在中国广为应用的板书授课(chalk and talk)教学方法,称这种教学方法效率更高。
Schools in Britain are being encouraged to go back to the traditional “chalk and talk” , teaching method that is widely used in China. Education Minister Nick Gibb said having a teacher speak to the class as a whole from the front was much more effective1’ than children working on their own.
More than 70 maths teachers from British primary schools went to Shanghai to study the “whole class” teaching styles. In “whole class” teaching, the teacher instructs all the pupils together by using a blackboard, while testing the children with questions.
The success of pupils in China is largely down to teaching methods. Maths tests taken in classrooms in Southampton and Nanjing in China found that the Chinese pupils scored between 20 and 30 percent higher than the English pupils. While in the Chinese Classrooms “whole class interaction2” was being used 72 percent of the time, compared with only 24 percent in England.
Mr. Gibb said, “In Shanghai primary schools, teachers spend longer time on interacting with the whole class. I would like to see schools across the country adopt3 ‘whole class’ teaching method, particularly in maths and science.”
