日本东京的机器人出租车公司正在筹备机器人出租车的试用工作,希望尽快将自动驾驶出租车带上日本的马路。
Robot Taxi, a Tokyo-based company, is going to bring self-driving robot taxis to Japan’s roads next year. According to Robot Taxi, the new taxis will take people to pre-decided supermarkets about three kilometers from their homes. The self-driving taxis will have GPS, millimeter-wave radar, stereo vision cameras, and image analysis technologies1.
It is the first time that people have tested self-driving taxis on local roads. The local government is fully supportive2 of the company’s idea.
Hiroshi Nakajima, the head of Robot Taxi said that this will be the first test in the world to take people for shopping trips using self-driving taxis. If the plan runs successfully, it will pave the way for a broader launch of automated taxis3 in Japan in 2020. Nakajima also says that the company plans to test other applications4 of the car.
