【同中求异】so...that...与so that

  so...that...意为“如此……以至于……”，引导结果状语从句，so后面通常接形容词或副词。例如：
It rained so heavily that we didn’t go to school that day.
那天雨下得好大，所以我们没去上学。
  注意:so...that...引导的结果状语从句为否定句时，可以转化为too...to...句型,意为“太……而不能”。例如：
My brother is so short that he can’t get the apples on the tree.
=My brother is too short to get the apples on the tree.
我弟弟太矮，够不着树上的苹果。
  so that意为“以便；为了”，引导目的状语从句，从句中常用can/could/may/should/will/would等情态动词或助动词。例如：
The little boy saved money so that he could buy his mother a present on Mother’s Day.
小男孩攒钱以便可以在母亲节给母亲买一个礼物。
