Dr. John Dolittle is a vet (兽医) with a special talent (天赋): He can talk to animals. The character(形象) was from 100 years ago in The Story of Doctor Dolittle, the first in a series of classic novels (经典小说系列) for kids. Over the years, the vet’s adventures(冒险) have been made into movies. Dolittle is the latest.

   In the new film, England’s Queen Victoria is ill. Dr. Dolittle is on the way to find a cure. During his travels, he meets old enemies—but his friends, a gorilla, a duck, and a polar bear, are there to help. Tommy Stubbins, Dr. Dolittle’s young apprentice (学徒), also joins him on the trip.

   Actor Harry Collett, 16, plays Tommy in the movie. “When Tommy goes on with Dolittle, he learns to bring out his inner self (内在的自己),” Harry said. “He’s becoming a more brave and exciting person.”
