The University of Chile is in the capital city of Chile, Santiago. It is the largest university in Chile and one of the oldest and most famous universities in South America. The university was founded in 1842 by Andres Bello. It was opened in 1843.
The University of Chile has 16 departments1. It has 13 campuses2 which are in different parts of Santiago. All of its campuses are in the city, so it is easy for people to go to any of the campuses of the university.
The University of Chile has more than 27,500 students. Although the national language is Spanish, the university has a lot of foreign students. Many students from other countries come here to study.
