Oliver Twist

　Oliver Twist tells the classic story of an orphan(孤儿) living and working in a workhouse in Victorian England. After being mistreated(虐待), he runs away and meets the Artful Dodger, a child thief living on the streets of London. He takes Oliver under his wing and introduces him to his criminal boss, Fagin. Despite being around criminals and cruel people, Oliver’s heart remains pure(纯真的). Dickens wrote Oliver Twist to show the unfairness(不公) in society and show how poverty(贫穷) led to crime and that society should try and help the struggling(挣扎中的) poor. It shows the importance of determination(歧视) and staying honest, even if those around you aren’t. Read it to discover the dark side of Victorian London seen through the eyes of a young boy.
