The Book of Songs

   The Book of Songs is the beginning of ancient Chinese poetry(诗歌) and also the earliest collection(集) of poetry in China. When I read this book, I feel like I’m having a talk across time and space with people from thousands of years ago. It’s just like stepping into their time.

　Among all the poems in this book, my favorite is called Homecoming After the War (《采薇》). This poem mainly talks about how soldiers(士兵 ) had to leave their homes to fight for many years. Even though they missed their homeland very much, they couldn’t return because of the war. By reading the poem, we can understand what these soldiers went through, feel their sadness, and see how hard war can be. The Book of Songs is a special book. It touches our hearts and makes us feel something deep inside.
