Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is a 2001 fantasy film based on J. K. Rowling’s 1997 novel of the same name. It is the first instalment(一集) of the Harry Potter film series. Its story follows Harry Potter’s first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as he discovers that he is a famous wizard(巫师) and begins his education.
This is the tale of Harry Potter, an average eleven-year-old boy who has lived with his aunt and uncle ever since his parents died in a car crash. For some reason, the family has always mistreated(虐待) him. On his eleventh birthday, a giant man named Rubeus Hagrid hands him a letter telling him that he has been accepted as a student at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry is quickly thrown into a world completely foreign to both him and the viewer.
Harry learns that his parents were wizards and were killed by the evil(邪恶的) wizard Voldemort, a truth that was hidden from him all these years. He embarks(开始) for his new life as a student, gathering two good friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger along the way. They soon learn that something very valuable is hidden somewhere inside the school and Voldemort is very anxious(担忧的) to lay his hands on it. The wizarding world is far more dangerous for him than he would have imagined, and he quickly learns that not all wizards are ones to be trusted.
