Gui Haichao

　Do you know that our country’s Shenzhou-16 spacecraft flew to its space station? Three astronauts flew into space in the spacecraft. They are Jing Haipeng, Zhu Yangzhu and Gui Haichao.

　“When Jing Haipeng was flying into space in Shenzhou-7 in September 2008, I was still a student. I watched the news of our

country’s first spacewalk. I couldn’t even imagine at that time that I would fly together with him to the space station one day,” said Gui Haichao, a professor at Beihang univrsity.

　Born in Shidian, Yunnan in 1986, Gui grew up in a common family. He liked reading when he was young. And his interest in aerospace¹ began at the age of 17. That year, Shenzhou-5 flew into space successfully and Yang Liwei became China’s first astronaut in space. Gui was hard-working. He went to Beihang University to learn aircraft design² and engineering. Now he is teaching and doing research there.

　When he learned that our country needed an engineer to go into space, Gui was very excited. He tried his best and passed all the tests. His dream came true at last.
