Siddhartha (《悉达多》) by German writer Hermann Hesse is a story about Siddhartha, a rich man from India. He leaves behind his comfortable life to look for meaning.
The story takes place in India. Along the way, Siddhartha meets different people, like homeless men, poor monks(僧人) and successful businessmen. He becomes lost in their ways of life. But in the end, he meets a ferryman(摆渡人). The ferryman helps Siddhartha feel better about life. Siddhartha learns that true wisdom and knowledge(智慧和知识) come from within. We are our best teachers and can learn a lot from our life experiences like work and friendship.
Hesse once said, “It seems to me that love is the most important thing in the world.” We should learn to be at peace with(与……和平共处) ourselves and the world. A brighter future is waiting for all of us!
