本以高难饱，

High, you can’t eat your fill;

徒劳恨费声。

In vain you wail and trill.

五更疏欲断，

At dawn you hush your song;

一树碧无情。

The tree is green for long.

薄宦梗犹泛，

I drift as water flows,

故园芜已平。

And waste my garden grows.

烦君最相警，

Thank you for warning due,

我亦举家清。

I am as poor as you.
