　Nine-year-old Leisel Meminger is a book thief(小偷). Set in Nazi Germany, The Book Thief  follows Liesel during this time of death and uncertainty(不确定性).

　The book is narrated(叙述) by Death himself. Death notices Liesel when her family gets broken up. By her brother’s grave, Liesel finds a book in the snow. She learns to read and falls in love with books. In foster care(寄养照顾), Liesel starts to steal(偷窃) books. Some books would be burned(烧毁) by the Nazis. She shares them with her neighbors during bombing raids(炸弹袭击).
