Yueya Spring
Just as oil and water don’t mix, neither do springs and deserts. But Yueya Spring is an exception.
Yueya Spring, which looks like a crescent moon1, is located about 5 kilometres south of Dunhuang, Gansu province. Yueya Spring has been a natural wonder for a long time and is named the “First Spring in Sand”.
Yueya Spring used to be a part of the Danghe River, but it was left as a separate part when the river changed its course. The water in Yueya Spring is always clear and blue. It never dries out in times of drought. The lake has never been covered by sand from history up to now. That is because the underground streams of the Danghe River continuously fill the lake.
A great many people visit Yueya Spring every year. If you travel to Gansu, don’t miss it. It won’t let you down.
