Do police dogs have to be tall and strong? Well, in Weifang, Shandong province, a cute corgi Fu Zai, whose name means “lucky boy”, has become China’s first corgi police dog! With a lovely smile and short legs, he quickly got popular on the Internet.
Fu Zai was born in 2023. When Fu Zai was just one month old, his owner took him to a park to play. There, a police dog trainer noticed Fu Zai. He found Fu Zai was not only cute but also had some good qualities1 for a police dog. After thinking carefully, the owner agreed to send Fu Zai to the police dog training base.
Fu Zai practiced hard every day. There were many shills2 he needed to learn and he learned quickly. After about a year of strict training, Fu Zai officially became a police dog.
Many people might think that “short-legged” dogs couldn’t become police dogs. However, Fu Zai changed their ideas. In fact, his short legs allow him to easily get into and search narrow３ spaces. We believe that Fu Zai will become an excellent police dog in the future.
