Bao Zheng: A symbol of integrity1

In ancient China, there was a famous and honest official named Bao Zheng, who lived during the Song Dynasty. People also called him Lord Bao. He was like a bright star, shining with honesty and justice.

Bao Zheng was born into a normal family. Since he was young, he studied hard and dreamed of helping people. As a child, he saw how some bad officials bullied the poor. This made him very angry and filled his heart with a strong wish to fight against injustice.

When Bao Zheng grew up, he passed the imperial examinations and became an official. Wherever he worked, he was known for his fairness. He always made sure that everyone, rich or poor, was treated equally. He was especially good at solving difficult cases.

Bao Zheng was also very honest. He never took bribes, no matter how much money people offered him. Once, when he was leaving an area after his work there, people wanted to give him gifts to show their thanks. But he refused all of them. He said, “I am just doing my job.

I don’t need gifts.”

He was not afraid to speak up against powerful people who did bad things. Even if they were rich or had high positions, he would not let them get away with their wrongdoings. His honesty and courage made him a hero in people’s hearts.

Even today, thousands of years later, people still remember Bao Zheng. His stories are told again and again, teaching us the importance of being honest and standing up for what is right.
