Zhao Yiman was one of China’s bravest heroines during the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Born in 1905 in Sichuan Province, she joined the Communist Party of China when she was young and devoted her life to fighting for her country’s freedom.

During the war in the 1930s, Zhao Yiman first worked as a nurse and later became a military leader. In 1935, she led a group of soldiers in battles against the Japanese army in Northeast China. Although her troops were greatly outnumbered, she fought with courage and determination. Sadly, she was captured by the enemy.

The Japanese soldiers tortured1 her, trying to force her to reveal secrets about the Chinese army. But Zhao Yiman never gave in. She endured2 the pain and remained loyal to her country.

Before her execution in 1936, she wrote a moving letter to her young son. In the letter, she told him to be proud of his country and to grow up to serve the people.

Zhao Yiman’s story teaches us about bravery, love for our country, and the spirit of never giving up. She will always be remembered as a true national heroine.
