      neither用作副词，意为“也不”，放在句首，即：neither+助动词/情态动词/系动词+主语，表示前面叙述的否定情况也适合后者。与其相似的结构有“So do I.”意为“我也是”，表示后者与前者都表达肯定的观点。此外，neither也可放在句子的句末，表示“也不”。如：

　　她不喜欢茶，我也不喜欢。
　　He can ride the bike. So can she.
　　他会骑车，她也会。
　　Tom doesn’t like football and hates basketball, neither.
　　汤姆不喜欢足球，也不喜欢篮球。
　　neither用作连词，常用短语为“neither...nor...”意为“既不……也不……”，其反义词是“either...or...”意为“或者……或者……”，其后接同一词性的单词或短语。这两个短语的谓语动词遵循就近一致原则，即：谓语动词的单复数形式与靠近它的作主语的名词或代词保持一致。如：
