【同中求异】but，and

      but作连词，可以连接两个并列成分(单词、短语或并列分句)，表示前后意义上的转折关系或两种情况的对比，意为“但是”。如：

　　My grandma is old but beautiful.
　　我奶奶年纪虽大，却很漂亮。
　　The pencil is here, but the pen isn’t.
　　铅笔在这里，但是钢笔不在。
　　I know her name, but I don’t know her telephone number.
　　我知道她的名字，但我不知道她的电话号码。
　　and连接两个相同的并列成分（单词、短语或并列分句），表示顺接或并列的逻辑关系，意为“和；并且”。如：
　　Tang Fei can play the piano and the violin.
　　唐飞会弹钢琴，也会拉小提琴。
　　You can do morning exercises and keep healthy.
　　你可以做早操并保持健康。
　　My book is in my schoolbag and my schoolbag is on the desk.
