影临其境

What might the world be like after a pandemic? Sci-fi movies and TV series have shown us many possibilities. But in Sweet Tooth, the post-pandemic world is less scary and much warmer than in most stories.
The story is set 10 years after a pandemic known as the “Great Crumble(崩塌)”. It kills nearly all humans. Babies that are born afterwards come out as human-animal hybrids(混血). However,
humans hate these hybrids. Gus, the main character(角色) of the series, is a half-human, half-deer boy. The series is about how Gus tries to stay safe in this new world. What will happen when Gus leaves his home and grows up?
In Sweet Tooth, the post-pandemic world is dangerous, but not as dark as in other stories. There are no dead bodies or monsters(怪兽) everywhere. It’s the same as our world, just a bit quieter and greener. Gus himself makes the story a bit “sweeter” too. His ears perk up(立起) when he hears someone talk about chocolate or candy apples. He also has faith(信任) in others—even those who shouldn’t be trusted.
“This is a time when we have so many stories about how dark humanity(人性) can get,” The Verge wrote. “But Sweet Tooth offers(提供) something very welcome—hope.”
